Is Adenomyosis to Blame for Your Weight Gain?

One of the signs of adenomyosis is adenomyoma, a benign fibroid caused by endometrial tissue in the uterine muscle layer. Adenomyoma can lead to weight gain to a certain extent. If the size of the fibroids is small and does not exceed 5 cm, the patient needs to do regular color Doppler ultrasound examinations of the uterus; if it exceeds 5 cm, surgical resection is recommended.

If the patient's weight increases rapidly in a short period of time, it may be caused by  diseases related to pituitary gland, such as a pituitary tumor which can easily lead to this situation.

In addition, some of the body's endocrine hormone disorders can also cause weight gain. During the illness, patients may gain weight due to emotional instability, psychological stress, or weight gain as a result of taking hormonal drugs.

Therefore, patients with symptoms of weight gain need to be treated for the specific cause. With the reduction of adenomyosis symptoms and fibroid, patients cut their weight, which means that the fibroid causes the patient to gain weight. On the contrary, there are other reasons that require further screening.

Adenomyosis is one of the most common gynecological diseases. Women who often have dysmenorrhea are very likely to have adenomyosis. If there is no timely and effective treatment of the condition, it will seriously affect normal menstruation and even lead to the possibility of infertility. The appearance of the disease will seriously affect life and work. Therefore, when the disease symptoms appear, they must be detected early. Patients need to exam and treat the condition as early as possible.

So, in addition to the sign of adenomyoma, what other symptoms do patients with adenomyosis have?

1. Menstrual abnormalities
When adenomyosis is severe, it will seriously affect women's menstrual conditions, causing women to have symptoms such as heavy menstrual flow, dysmenorrhea, and prolonged menstrual periods. If patients refuse treatment for a long time, it will also affect the body's endocrine disorders, ovulation, and other aspects.

2. Abnormal pregnancy
Many medical studies have shown that 50% of patients with adenomyosis will experience infertility. The occurrence of infertility is mainly caused by the deterioration of the uterine environment in some patients, while others have miscarriages after pregnancy or repeated abortions. As a result, infertility has brought serious harm to family life.

3. Abnormal viscera
If adenomyosis has not been effectively treated for a long time, the uterus will gradually swell after it becomes severe. There will also have pressure on the rectum, bladder, and other organs, while symptoms such as genital pain, abnormal stool, frequent urination, and urgency will occur.

Patients can take the following drugs to relieve adenomyosis when the above symptoms appear.

1. Norethisterone acetate
Norethisterone acetate is a progestin drug used for irregular menstruation, endometriosis, adenomyosis, etc. Norethisterone acetate is pretty effective in treating adenomyosis and has good tolerance. Relevant studies have shown that the use of norethisterone acetate can effectively relieve abdominal pain caused by diseases, and the long-term use effect is evident.

2. Aromatase inhibitors
This drug is an excellent target for inhibiting the synthesis of estradiol. It will not affect the synthesis of other critical downstream enzymes. When patients use it, it can also significantly reduce the size of the patient's adenomyoma and relieve their menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea.

3. Herbal medicine Fuyan Pill
Based on taking the above chemical medicines, female patients can take Fuyan Pill. Fuyan Pill is a herbal medicine formulated from pure herbs, which can effectively relieve various symptoms of adenomyosis. It has the effects of regulating menstruation, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory function, helping women regain a healthy life.

Patients with adenomyosis should pay attention to developing good eating habits, ensuring a balanced intake of various nutrients, and not being partial or picky. That is helpful for the recovery of the disease.

1. Patients can eat more fruits and vegetables every day, such as mushrooms, apples, pears, cabbage, yam, etc. They can also have some black rice, egg, lean meat, and fish to ensure the supplementation of various nutrients and vitamins in the body.

2. Since most patients with adenomyosis are accompanied by symptoms of anemia, they can eat more iron-supplemented foods such as spinach and chicken liver.

3. Patients should avoid spicy, acidic, and cold foods.

4. Patients with adenomyosis, especially during the menstrual period, must be careful not to eat spicy and stimulating foods such as pepper, black pepper, ginger, garlic, etc., or some acidic foods such as vinegar, sauerkraut, lemon, sour date, green plums, etc.

To sum up, the weight gain in patients with adenomyosis may be due to the sign of adenomyoma. However, the specific condition still requires the patient to go to the hospital and actively cooperate with examination and treatment to cure the disease.
