Is feeling cold a symptom of adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease characterized by the presence of ectopic glandular tissue in muscle, which is typically found in women between the ages of 35 and 50. It may involve the uterus focally, creating an adenomyoma. With diffuse involvement, the uterus becomes bulky and heavier. The occurrence of this disease is increasing year by year. Most of the patients even not know that they are suffering this kind of disease.

What are the symptoms of adenomyosis? Is feeling cold a symptom of adenomyosis? The answer probably is “yes”. Common symptoms of adenomyosis are involved pain, abnormal menstrual periods, and tender abdominal area. The pain often is worse with the menstrual cycle and is the most common cause of secondary dysmenorrhea. Specifically, it includes heavy bleeding, prolonged menstrual cramps, spotting, blood clots, longer menstrual cycles. These symptoms are always accompanied with an increased susceptibility to cold feelings. The tender abdominal area would also enhanced “cold feeling” during the development of these diseases. In most cases of the adenomyosis, the patients are feeling painful and easy to be cold in their arms, legs or underbelly. This “feeling cold” symptom becomes even obvious in the menstrual periods.

But, are there any effective ways to cure this disease? Conservative treatment often consists of anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen or other NSAIDs. Hormonal manipulation may include progestin-only oral contraceptives as well as other options such as transdermal patches and progesterone-releasing intrauterine devices. Hormonal suppression may be used in the form of danazol or a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. These medications simulate menopause, a period in which adenomyosis often resolves naturally. However, from the views of traditional Chinese doctors, the “healthful eating rules” would be useful for the patients. In their opinion, the patients with adenomyosis should be more vigilant against the cool or cold foods, such as clams, crabs, shrimps, or turtles. They strongly recommended the “healthful eating rules”, in which they referred the mild food, such as chicken, pork, fish, eggs or milk. In addition to the “healthful eating rules”, the Chinese medicine “Fuyan Pill” that would help to cure the adenomyosis was strongly recommended by them. The “Fuyan Pill” is a traditional Chinese medicine, which not only had anti-inflammatory effects, but also would improve the hormone levels. It has both of these curative effects, which are vital important for the cure of the adenomyosis.
