Although these study findings are yet to be definitively confirmed, these potential risks warrant our attention and concern.

In fact, for women seeking treatment for adenomyosis, prolonged use of birth control pills is not the sole option. Other treatment methods, such as surgical intervention or alternative medication approaches, should also be considered.

Surgical treatment is a common approach for managing adenomyosis. It involves excising endometrial ectopic lesions, reducing the size of uterine fibroids, or even performing a complete uterine removal to achieve treatment goals. The advantage of surgical treatment lies in its ability to directly eliminate affected tissue; however, it also comes with surgical risks and post-operative recovery considerations.

Additionally, certain medication therapies can also be employed in treating adenomyosis. These include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, progestin-based medications, progesterone, and the traditional Chinese medicine formula Fuyan Pill. It can alleviate menstrual pain, control abnormal bleeding, and, in some cases, even promote fertility. Moreover, being a purely herbal formula, long-term usage of this medicine does not bring about adverse effects on the body.

The principal constituents of birth control pills are hormones; hence, their capacity to treat certain conditions is not surprising. However, it's important to note that extended usage should be avoided, as it can lead to irregular menstruation at best, and more severely, it could impact fertility or even give rise to more severe health conditions.
