Whether cervicitis is contagious depends on its pathogens

Cervicitis, a common gynecological disease, can be caused by many factors such as childbirth, surgery, abortion and the neglect of genital tract hygiene. Once suffering from cervicitis, many women begin to worry about their sexual life as they think cervicitis is contagious. In fact, however, whether cervicitis is contagious is associated with its pathogens.

Among these pathogens, some (neisseria gonorrhea, mycoplasma and chlamydia) can infect the partners through sex while others can't. Patients can take relevant inspection to identify this. Take neisseria gonorrhea for example, patients can detect the existence of gonococcus through examinations like secretion smear gram stain, neisseria gonorrhea culture or nucleic acid detection.

Once the pathogen is confirmed as gonococcus, mycoplasma or chlamydia, women should attach great importance to sex because these pathogens may be transmitted by sexual intercourse. In addition, patients should also receive timely treatment in case something unpleasant happens.
