Is Vaginitis a Result of Chaotic Private Life? You Misunderstand Too Much

Kathy is a young professional woman who has recently been experiencing persistent itching and abnormal vaginal discharge. After visiting the hospital, she was diagnosed with vaginitis. When she shared this news with her friends, she heard comments that made her feel wronged and helpless: "Is it because your private life is too chaotic that you got this disease?" Kathy felt both angry and confused; is vaginitis always due to a chaotic private life?

Vaginitismisunderstanding

Many women, like Kathy, suffer misunderstandings because of vaginitis. So, what exactly is vaginitis? Is it related to a chaotic private life?

Vaginitis refers to inflammation of the vaginal mucosa and submucosal connective tissue, and it is a common gynecological condition. Common types of vaginitis include trichomonas vaginitis, candidal vaginitis (vulvovaginal candidiasis), bacterial vaginosis, atrophic vaginitis, and juvenile vaginitis. The pathogenic causes and symptoms may vary among different types of vaginitis.

While certain types of vaginitis, such as trichomonas vaginitis, can indeed be transmitted through sexual contact, this does not mean that having vaginitis is necessarily related to a chaotic private life. In everyday and hygienic sexual life, if both partners do not maintain proper cleanliness or if a sexual partner carries pathogens, it can also lead to a woman contracting vaginitis. However, this does not imply that having vaginitis indicates improper private life.

Most cases of vaginitis are not directly related to sexual activity. The causes of vaginitis are diverse and mainly include the following aspects:

1. Poor Personal Hygiene Habits

Suppose a woman does not frequently change her underwear or does not change sanitary pads promptly during her menstrual period and neglects external genital hygiene. In that case, it can create a damp and unclean environment conducive to bacterial and pathogen growth, leading to vaginitis.

2. Imbalance of Vaginal Flora

The vagina contains various microorganisms that interact and depend on each other, forming a relatively balanced ecosystem. When this balance is disrupted, for example, by prolonged use of antibiotics, excessive douching, or irritating cleansers, it can reduce beneficial bacteria and an overgrowth of harmful bacteria, thus causing vaginitis.

3. Changes in Hormone Levels

During special physiological periods such as pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and menopause, women's hormone levels undergo significant changes. Fluctuations in hormones can affect the pH level and microbial balance in the vagina, reducing its self-cleaning ability and making it more susceptible to pathogen invasion, which can lead to vaginitis.

4. Low Immunity

When the body's immunity is weakened, such as during prolonged fatigue, malnutrition, chronic diseases (like diabetes), or undergoing immunosuppressive treatment, the ability to resist pathogens decreases, making it easier to contract vaginitis.

5. External Irritants

Wearing tight, non-breathable underwear or pants for extended periods can increase the local temperature and humidity of the external genital area, promoting bacterial growth. Additionally, using substandard sanitary pads, tampons, and condoms or being allergic to these products can also trigger vaginitis.

6. Other Factors

Prolonged exposure to humid and hot environments or frequently using public toilets and towels can increase the risk of contracting vaginitis.

In conclusion, vaginitis is a common gynecological condition with complex and diverse causes, and it cannot simply be equated with a chaotic private life.

Women should correctly understand vaginitis. Once related symptoms appear, they should seek medical attention promptly, actively treat the condition, and take preventive measures to protect their reproductive health. For more severe cases of vaginitis, herbal medicine such as Fuyan Pill can be taken to relieve symptoms, regulate the internal environment, enhance immunity, and eliminate inflammation.
