German Federal Ministry: Chlamydia Infection Increases the Rate of Ovarian Cancer

 

 

Chlamydia is a kind of microorganism, which can reproduce in cells and cause many diseases. Thomas Mayer, a professor at the Max Planck Institute of Infectious Biology in Germany, who participated in the study, said that inflammation during chronic chlamydia infection may further promote tumorigenesis.

 

At present, researchers are trying to further confirm the association between Chlamydia infection and ovarian cancer through genetic analysis and other means. Mayer said that people now underestimate the harm of Chlamydia infection, if we can find conclusive evidence of Chlamydia infection associated with ovarian cancer, it will be helpful to develop related vaccines and therapeutic drugs.
