What Other Diseases Can Untreated Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Trigger?

Women's body is fragile, and the physiological mechanism is complex. If women suffer from pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) and do not receive treatment, it will cause other complications, and then the treatment will not be more tough. The following is the complications that untreated PID can cause.

1. Etopic pregnancy

Due to the damage of PID, the function of the fallopian tube to absorb fertilized eggs and transfer fertilized eggs is affected. Therefore, the incidence of ectopic pregnancy increased significantly after PID, 7 - 10 times higher than those without PID.

2. Genitourinary tract infection

Because of anatomical and physiological characteristics, women are susceptible to urinary tract infections, such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, gonorrhea, cervicitis and cervical erosion.

3. Ovarian cyst

When salpingitis affects the ovary, the fallopian tube and ovary adhere to each other to form an inflammatory mass, or the umbrella end of the fallopian tube adheres to the ovary and is inert, and the fluid seeps out to form a fallopian tube ovarian cyst.

4.Infertility
For women who have not given birth, the greatest harm of this disease is to cause infertility. Inflammation in any part of the pelvic uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries or their surrounding tissues, including the pelvic peritoneum, can cause infertility in women. Especially when acute inflammation can not be thoroughly treated and turned into chronic type. Sometimes the slow onset and mild condition of chronic PID can not attract women’s attention, so the treatment is not timely, resulting in women's infertility.

5. Dysmenorrhea

Because PID involves all the internal parts of the reproductive organs, including inflammation of the uterus, fallopian tube and ovary. So the range of dysmenorrhea is very large, mainly manifested as bilateral upper abdominal pain, which can be radiated to the waist, sometimes accompanied by tenesmus.

6. Pelvic adhesions

Long-term recurrent chronic PID will lead to the release of a large number of inflammatory factors, which will increase the permeability and exudation of various pelvic organs, resulting in increased fibrinogen secretion inside. It can cause tubal, ovary and uterus to stick together. Besides, it can also cause lower abdominal pain, long-term recurrence of low fever and fever symptoms. Patients need timely clinical intervention and treatment. Severe PID can spread to pelvic peritoneum, uterus and other tissues, eventually resulting in extensive adhesion.

PID are mainly treated with antibiotics and drugs, and operation when necessary. Antibiotic therapy can clear pathogens, improve symptoms and signs, and reduce sequelae. Most PID cases can be completely cured by proper antibiotic treatment. However, due to long-term inflammatory stimulation, chronic PID can easily cause adhesion around organs, and anti-inflammatory drugs are not easy to enter.

Therefore, at this time, the efficacy of antibiotics is not good, but traditional Chinese medicine treatment can highlight its advantages. At present, most of the patients with chronic PID are mainly treated with traditional Chinese medicine, such as the common Fuyan Pill, and the curative effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Modern Medicine therapy is better.
