Early Symptoms of Fallopian Tube Blockage: 99% of Women Tend to Overlook Them
In recent years, infertility has become increasingly prevalent. There are many causes of female infertility, with fallopian tube blockage being a very common one. This condition can often remain hidden, with many women possibly overlooking early symptoms. However, issues become apparent when trying to conceive.
What are the early symptoms of fallopian tube blockage?
1. Abdominal Discomfort
Pain in the lower abdomen is one of the early indicative symptoms of fallopian tube blockage. It is often a concealed discomfort, primarily characterized by soreness and a feeling of heaviness in the lower back and sacral area, which intensifies after exertion. Due to the frequent association of fallopian tube blockage with pelvic pathology, patients may experience two types of symptoms: fullness pain or evacuation pain in the bladder and rectum; and irritative bladder and rectal symptoms, such as frequent and urgent urination.
2. Menstrual Irregularities
The fallopian tubes are adjacent to the ovaries. The main manifestations of a blocked fallopian tube are: generally, fallopian tube diseases do not affect ovarian function and do not influence the amount of menstrual flow. However, when inflammation spreads to the ovaries and damages ovarian function, menstrual abnormalities can occur. The most common are frequent menstruation and excessive menstrual flow, possibly due to pelvic congestion and ovarian dysfunction.
3. Painful Menstruation
Pelvic congestion caused by fallopian tube blockage can easily lead to painful menstruation. Abdominal pain often begins a week before menstruation and intensifies as the period approaches. The pain becomes more stable during menstruation and disappears after it ends.
4. Infertility Symptoms
Once the fallopian tubes develop a pathology, they can easily become locally blocked, leading to infertility, especially common in secondary infertility. In the examination for female infertility, the possibility of fallopian tube obstruction should be considered first.
5. Other Aspects
Severe fallopian tube blockage can cause symptoms beyond infertility and painful menstruation, such as increased vaginal discharge, pain during sexual intercourse, gastrointestinal disorders, fatigue, reduced work tolerance or endurance, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and depression.
Fallopian tube blockage is one of the primary causes of female infertility, accounting for approximately 25%-35% of infertility cases in women. Additionally, fallopian tube diseases are highly prevalent and represent a significant challenge in the treatment of infertility.
This is because the fallopian tubes play a crucial role in transporting sperm, capturing the egg, and carrying the fertilized egg to the uterus. Once blocked, this impedes the passage of sperm and fertilized eggs, leading to infertility.
Can Pregnancy Occur After Fallopian Tube Blockage?
Some women, despite being diagnosed with fallopian tube blockage, manage to conceive. This can happen due to several reasons:
1. Two Fallopian Tubes: Women have two fallopian tubes. If one is blocked, there is still a chance of pregnancy because the other tube may remain healthy and unobstructed.
2. Partial Blockage: The blockage might not be severe. It’s akin to a traffic jam where cars can’t pass, but there are gaps enough for bicycles to squeeze through. However, this kind of narrow passage may make it difficult for the fertilized egg to move through the entire length of the fallopian tube, potentially leading to an ectopic pregnancy.
Is Surgery Always Required for Fallopian Tube Blockage?
The issue of fallopian tube blockage should not be taken lightly. In mild cases, it might be treatable with medication. Traditional Chinese medicine, such as Fuyan Pill, is a good option. For moderate to severe blockages, surgical methods might be necessary to clear the fallopian tubes.
Experts advise that blockages in the fallopian tubes are a common cause of infertility, and these tubes play a crucial role in fertilization. It is recommended to seek timely medical examination and treatment. Early detection and treatment are essential to prevent severe consequences.
