Treatment of PID

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a common infection in women that causes inflammation in the upper genital tract, impacting the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and other reproductive organs. PID often results in scarring of these organs, which can lead to infertility, ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, and severe abscesses. As one of the leading causes of infertility, PID is a serious condition that can result in lasting reproductive health issues if left untreated.

A woman can get pelvic inflammatory disease if bacteria (germs) move up from her vagina and infect her pelvic organs. Many different types of bacteria can cause pelvic inflammatory disease. But, most cases of pelvic inflammatory disease are caused by bacteria that cause two common sexually transmitted infections (STIs, STDs) — gonorrhea  and chlamydia. It can take from a few days to a few months for an infection to travel up from the vagina to the pelvic organs.

The main symptoms of PID are: pain in low abdomen and waist, and sometimes there would be a pain in the anus, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, infertility. Some of the patients would have frequency urinate and excessive vaginal fluid. If there is a annexitis, a thick stick or piece can be touched on the sides of the womb with pain. If there is a hydrosalpinx or tubal tumor, masses can be touched. If there is a inflammation in the connective tissue, there is a tissue thicken to the both side of the womb and there is a pain under pressure.

Treatment PID with western medicine such as antibiotics cannot get effective function. Laparoscopy can solve some of the problem, but because the inflammation is still there, the disease often recur.
