Many patients are curious about the relationship between PID and menstrual period. Chronic PID include chronic endometritis and chronic salpingitis. Both of them can cause menstrual disorder.

Pelvic inflammatory disease, usually called PID, is an infection of the female reproductive organs. PID is one of the most serious complications of a sexually transmitted disease in women. It can lead to irreversible damage to the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other parts of the female reproductive system, and is the primary preventable cause of infertility in women.

As PID can cause menstrual disorder, it can cause other uncomfortable symptoms: Dull pain or tenderness in the stomach or lower abdominal area, or pain in the right upper abdomen; Abnormal vaginal discharge that is yellow or green in color or that has an unusual odor; Painful urination; Chills or high fever; Nausea and vomiting; Pain during sex.

PID can be caused by many factors. PID occurs when the disease-causing organisms travel from the cervix to the upper genital tract. Untreated gonorrhea and chlamydia cause about 90% of all cases of PID. Other causes include abortion, childbirth, and pelvic procedures.

As the complications of PID can cause menstrual disorder, you should receive timely treatment if you suffer PID. Antibiotics and surgery are usually used to treat PID. Actually, antibiotics and surgery may not eradicate PID and may have side effects.

Herbal medicine could be better to treat menstrual disorder caused by PID. Fuyan Pill is made up from multiple herbs including Bupleurum falcatum L., poria cocos, radices scutellariae, Gardenia, Atractylodes ovata, etc. Among which some herbs are highly powerful in killing bacteria, virus, and all the pathogen to cause infections. With other herbs which can clear up "fire" and toxic materials, and herbs which can promote blood and Qi circulation, inflammation caused by the infection can be treated as well.
